The first Massachusetts Good Sam Samboree (Rally) was held in Greenfield, MA at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in 1973 with just 35 RVs present in the infield. Big Blue was the only chapter at the time and ran the entire state Samboree including food, activities, and entertainment. Harry Carlsen was a driving force in establishing chapters throughout the state. By late in the '70's there were as many as 19 chapters.
